NOW Foods, Peppermint Gels, Enteric Coated, 90 Softgels
Will I experience an aftertaste from taking peppermint gels?
These capsules are enteric-coated to release in a pH of 5.5 or greater. They are not designed to open or to digest in the stomach. This will reduce the small possibility of these oils "repeating". People will not normally taste these after they take them on an empty stomach.
In the unlikely event that you do get an aftertaste from these oils, I would suggest that you take them a short time BEFORE a meal, so that they will still pass through the stomach undigested, but the food in the stomach could form a physical barrier to the oils moving back up through the digestive pathway.
These capsules are designed to withstand over an hour of exposure to stomach acid, but be dissolved in less than an hour in the less acidic intestinal juices.
